Nokia unveiled its newest N9 (N series) mobile phone. The new Nokia N9 has new operating system MeeGo. Nokia originally intended for MeeGo to succeed its aging Symbian OS, but with Nokia adopting Windows Phone 7 as its primary platform, MeeGo was relegated to “experimental” status. That experiment could yet prove to be a viable backup plan judging from early impressions of the new smartphone.

PayPal Application for iPhone Security Flaw Reported – Update Available to Fix

According to Wall Street Journal, PayPal has updated its Apple iPhone application with a new version that fixes a security flaw. The older version PayPal application did not verify the authenticity of PayPal’s website when a user was logging in, opening up the possibility for a hacker to gain access to user accounts. Without that confirmation, a hacker could electronically step between a user and PayPal, pretend to be the PayPal website and gather usernames and passwords. The hacker would need to be in the same physical location as the user or have gained access to the same Wi-Fi network.

“According to a spokesmen [the flaw] has not affected anybody,” PayPal spokeswoman Amanda Pires said, noting that if anyone was affected, PayPal would reimburse fraudulent charges. If you are using PayPal iPhone application, be sure to update your application.

Today Mozilla announced that its Firefox 4 Beta browser for Android and Maemo devices has been updated. The beta is now available in 10 languages and provides improved text rendering, reduced memory usage, and faster performance. The Android client install size was reduced by 60 percent to just 17MB, too.

The latest version has a new theme, allows you to share links from the Site Menu, and undo closing a tab. Mozilla says the Android 2.2 client is 25 percent faster on its benchmarks. If the customer exceeds either 10 on net minutes, 5 off net minutes or 125 SMS within the valid time period, charging will be as per tariff plan. For example, if the subscriber subscribes to 67 Paisa/min Anytime, Any Network at 10: 00 am and by 11:00 am has used 6 offnet minutes. The subscriber will be charged PKR 10 + tax for 67 Paisa/min Anytime – Any Network as well as 1 minutes as per tariff plan for the extra off net minute.
